Matthew F. Jack, Co-Owner
Responsibilities – selecting products, estimating, and developing relationships with suppliers, builders, designers and installers. Matthew worked in the construction industry for over 25 years first as a residential and commercial painter and then for over fifteen years he was the quality control manager and assistant project manager for multi-million dollar marine construction projects.
Elaine Logothetis Jack, Co-Owner
Responsibilities - public relations, marketing and education. Elaine has worked in the environmental field for 18 years. Prior to opening Sapona Green, she worked as a biologist focusing on coastal fisheries, wetland restoration and conservation biology. She continues to volunteer with environmental activities and issues in the community. She is a past board member of the Cape Fear Green Building Alliance, and the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher’s Citizen Advisory Council.
Patt E. Mason,
Field Representative
Responsibilities: developing relationships with building professionals such as architects, builders, designers and developers. Patt has a design background and worked for LSP3 Associates as a senior architectural draftsman/designer for over twenty years. She is knowledgeable about and has many contacts in the building industry and is eager to promote green building in the community.
Claire Abell, Intern
(CFCC, Interior Design Program)
Claire Abell was raised in Monroe, Louisiana and attended Texas Christian University where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Journalism. After graduation, she moved to Corvallis, Oregon, where she worked as marketing coordinator at a spa and wellness center. While working in the LEED certified building, she was inspired to follow her passion for interior design. In June 2009, she moved to Wilmington and is currently pursuing an Associate's Degree in Interior Design at Cape Fear Community College.

Sapona Green Building Center, LLC is a locally owned business founded in 2007 by Matthew F. Jack and Elaine Logothetis Jack, a husband and wife team. The concept for the business originated initially because we wanted to use products in our home that were safe for humans and the environment, but could not find any locally. While green building products are available via the internet, we wanted to see and touch them first. We found that others in the area were keen to the green building philosophy as well. This was evident by growing monthly attendance at and membership with the Cape Fear Green Building Alliance, a local group of citizens and building industry professionals. Then once our son Leo was born in June of 2007, we knew that the time was right and decided to open a store to fill the niche. Sapona Green features products that are sustainable, safe for everybody, such as children and the chemically sensitive and the environment, and energy and water efficient.

Sapona Green retails exclusively green building products, which are defined as sustainable, recycled, reclaimed, non-toxic, or energy and water conserving. We provide fabrication and installation for all of our products and also offer consultation, design, energy audits and custom cabinets and furniture. We pride ourselves in being the region’s resource center for green building products. Because there are so many new “green” products coming out now, we have done extensive research to select products that are truly sustainable. Over the last 16 months of operation, we have developed strong relationships with our suppliers and installers. Thus, our knowledge base and relationships allow us to provide you with the best service and price we can offer. |
